There is not an exact definition of an ideal family, but I believe it’s families who love each other with a pure love. A love that is indescribable to outsiders. Everyone in the family cares for one another and would be there in a heartbeat if something was wrong. They share a bond together that is unbreakable. There are so many good things about having a wonderful family. You always have people who will listen, care and appreciate you. Also, you can never be alone. There are no bad things about an ideal family because blood is always thicker than water.

My whole life I have always known who my heroes were, my parents. They have raised me to be compassionate, grateful and to have good values and morals. For this blog I am supposed to choose one hero, so I have decided to write about my mom.

My mom is an extraordinary person. On a day the world isn’t in my favor, she is always there for me with her arms wide open. She is caring and can comfort anyone. My mom would go anywhere at anytime to help me or anyone else. She works so hard and most of the time doesn’t receive enough credit. She is humble and has a good heart.

I believe a hero or heroine doesn’t need to be famous. They can be anyone who is willing to help or brighten other people’s days. The simple things in life are what counts. To some, my mom is an ordinary person. My mom is a beautiful person inside and out because she is a real heroine.

The sweet smell of a fully bloomed pink rose on a sunny summer day is priceless.

One animal I would want to see in the wild, instead of the zoo, would be an elephant. They are huge and magnificent animals. Seeing them in their natural habitat would be spectacular. Also being able to travel the world to see them would be a once in a life time opportunity.

Earth Day: A day to focus on environmental awareness.

I have listened to many people talk about “going green”, and while I think everyone should pay more attention to this earth, I believe people will only change if they want to.

I was taking a walk with my mom one morning when she pointed out trash.  It was literally everywhere.  At that moment I knew what my Earth Day blog was going to be about.  I just couldn’t believe how people could throw trash on the ground when it is so simple to find a garbage can.  “Going green” isn’t just about being energy efficient, it is about being conscious of what you are doing to our planet.

“So, how was school today?” asked my grandma with real interest.

I gave my usual smile and replied, “It was good. How was your day Grandma?”

“Oh you know, just a regular day. Nothing too exciting, but I did pull out all of the tomato vines and the petunias from the garden,” she answered with her own warm smile.

“Really? You must be getting ready for winter,” I said partly joking.

“Yes I am. Would you like to take any of the petunia roots home with you?” my grandma said half seriously and half laughing.

“No, that’s okay,” I said quickly while I started to laugh.

As our laughter died down, I looked out the window of my grandma’s small, but cozy home. In her comfy, red chair I sat thinking about my grandma sitting a mere three feet away from me. The way she brings laughter and joy into an ordinary day.

“I love you Grandma,” I said sincerely.

With another smile on her face she replied with, “I love you too.”
